Event Details

This living-history re-enactment explores, in vivid detail, the events of March 20, 1854 when Alvan Bovay convened a daring and decisive meeting at a Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon This meeting , in protest to the Kansas-Nebraska Act, launched the Republican Party and forever changed the course of our country.  This 75-minute event, held in that very schoolhouse, will immerse participants in that lively debate, enable them to sit with Bovay and Ripon townspeople, even allow them to participate in the discussions that so altered the lives of many.

Bovay declared: "We shall marshall our resources to elect a President opposed to the domination of slavery".  Abraham Lincoln would be elected President just 6 short years later.
